Delete your account
You can ask us to delete your Karegar account and the data attached to it. You do not need the app installed to ask, and you do not need a reason.
How to ask
From the app
- Open Settings (the side menu, or the profile tab).
- Tap Delete account.
- Enter your password to confirm.
Your password is asked for again on purpose. Deleting cannot be undone, and the tap that starts it can be made in a bad moment or by somebody who picked up your phone.
By email
Write to [email protected] with the mobile number you sign in with. We will reply to confirm it is really you before we do anything — usually by sending a code to that number — because anyone can type somebody else's number into an email.
What happens next
The request is recorded and a person reviews it. Nothing is destroyed at the moment you tap the button. We complete the deletion within 30 days, and usually much sooner. Your device stops receiving notifications straight away.
What is deleted
- Your name, your bio, your business name and the rest of your profile.
- Your CNIC number and both photographs of your CNIC, if you ever uploaded them. The rows and the image files are destroyed outright, not anonymised. We only ever held them so a reviewer could read them once.
- Your password, which stops every signed-in device immediately.
- Your notification tokens, and any payout details you had saved.
- Your mobile number as a login — it is freed, so it can be registered again.
What is kept, and why
- Jobs, bookings, chat messages and reviews that someone else was part of. They are that other person's record too, so they stay — shown as belonging to a "Deleted user", with your name gone. A client who paid for work done last month does not lose their own history because the worker left.
- The mobile number itself, held against the closed account and not shown to anyone. It is what lets us recognise an account that was deleted to escape a complaint, and what lets us answer you if you write to us later about the deletion.
- Server logs, for up to 30 days.
If you want the kept records gone as well, say so in your email and we will tell you what we can and cannot remove, and why.
